Aceves-Cully slams 'attack on rule of law'

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Sun 30th Oct 2005

Alliance representative for Larne Town, Elena Aceves-Cully, has slammed the recent attack on the property of an independent member of Larne's District Policing Partnership, during which his car was vandalized.

Speaking after the attack, on Terry McCaughan's home in Victoria Road, she said: "I utterly condemn this attack.

"We have one of the best monitored police services in the world, which includes The Policing Board and its District Policing Partnerships, spread across Northern Ireland.

"In order to ensure peace and stability in this country, it is essential that they are allowed to get on with their job.

"Any attack on people trying to do their best for the community is an attack on the rule of law, and an attack on democracy."
