Hawkins disgusted by attack on policewoman

Alliance North Belfast representative Marjorie Hawkins has expressed her disgust at an attack on a policewoman in Belfast. The attack occurred on the Ligoniel Road shortly before 9pm, when she was hit by a brick thrown from behind Ligoniel Youth Club.

Ms Hawkins stated: "This is a truly barbaric attack, and my immediate thoughts are with the officer concerned.

"It is disgusting that an officer cannot do her job, helping a pedestrian after a car accident, without being subject to a mindless attack like this.

"Such attacks raise very serious questions about the nature of community leadership in these areas. Lawlessness must not be allowed to prevail in any part of Belfast."
