Motorists' speed concerns Campbell

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Sat 3rd Sep 2005

Newtownabbey Alliance Councillor Tom Campbell has expressed concern at motorists' speeds following a fatal road traffic accident in which a young man was killed in a road traffic accident on Friday near the Doagh Road in Newtownabbey.

Cllr Campbell said:

"This is the second fatality in recent months on the roads in this area .I do not know all the circumstances relating to this fatal crash but there continues to be a tendency for particularly young men to be involved in motoring accidents. Speed is often a factor. They need to be aware that particularly in an urban area, it may not be possible to control a vehicle if it goes out of control following an impact or collision. Motorists need to heed Police warnings about the need to slow down."
