Alliance condemns East Belfast petrol bombing12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 2nd Sep 2005 East Belfast Alliance Assembly member, Cllr Naomi Long, has condemned a petrol bombing in Glen Lea Park in the Garnerville area. A car was destroyed and damage was caused to the front door and the window of the house. A woman and children who were in the house escaped unhurt. Cllr Long, former Chair of the East Belfast Sub-group of the District Policing Partnership Board, said, "This was a reckless attack in a residential area, which could have easily caused serious injury or even death. "It is no thanks to the attackers that no-one was injured and it is clear that the perpetrators have no regard for the safety of local people. Given the recent trouble in the estate and when tensions in the area remain high, this is the last thing that the vast majority of people in East Belfast will want. There is no excuse for this kind of violence, and I would appeal to anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area to contact the local police."
