Time for action from all sides: Bell

Alliance Party Deputy Leader Eileen Bell has called for action from all sides a week on from the IRA statement ending its armed campaign.

The North Down MLA stated: "We have now seen full proposals and significant action from the UK Government on what it is going to do, which have gone ahead without consultation with democratic representatives and some of which will cause a lot of pain in the community.

"People are now looking for reassurances from others. What action is currently being taken by the IRA? What action is being taken on victims, anti-sectarianism, and the many other aspects required to make this process successful?

"People I speak to are concerned that this is a matter of the IRA saying, and the Government doing. We want action from all sides."
