Neeson launches Women in Business Project

12.00.00am GMT Tue 21st Dec 1999

Alliance Party Leader Sean Neeson, Deputy Chairman of the Assembly's Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Investment on Thursday launched a major project in the Guildhall in Londonderry to get women more involved in business in Northern Ireland. The project is sponsored by Women in Enterprise and will consist of a Micro-Enterprise Loan Fund with its associated projects.

Mr Neeson says :

"Northern Ireland lags well behind other regions of the British Isles as far as the involvement of women in business."

"This project will provide major opportunities to redress this, but within our changing society in Northern Ireland it will give a major challenge to the Assembly to ensure that there is equality of opportunity for all, especially in the business sector."

" I am very pleased that LEDU are very much involved in the project and I hope to see it extended throughout Northern Ireland."
