Neeson welcomes NORTEL investment

12.00.00am GMT Thu 9th Nov 2000

East Antrim Assembly Member Sean Neeson who is Deputy Chairperson of the Assembly Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Investment welcomes today's announcement by NORTEL to invest another 95 million pounds and create 1300 new jobs in the East Antrim Area.

Mr Neeson says - NORTEL are now becoming one of the largest employers in Northern Ireland and their high tech industry is a significant boost to the Northern Ireland economy as a whole.

I feel hopeful that this massive new investment could lead to further lucrative spin offs in the electronics industry throughout Northern Ireland, but it is also important that we continue to make progress on political stability here.
