Farry condemns Bangor Murder

Alliance Party Councillor for the Bangor Abbey area, Stephen Farry has condemned the brutal murder of a man in Castle Park (behind the Bangor Abbey) last night.

Stephen Farry said:

"This was a brutal murder of an innocent man walking home at night."

"This attack is going to spread considerable fear within the local community. People will naturally become more cautious about walking alone at night, especially away from main roads."

"It is imperative that the person or persons responsible for this assault are caught as quickly as possible. It is unclear whether this was a mugging or a person being set upon by a number of youths. However, there will be someone who knows the identity of this killer, and they have a moral duty to come forward with whatever information they have."

"There have been a number of serious incidents in this vicinity in recent years, and there is an obvious need for an enhanced police presence in the area to give the community a greater sense of security."
