New footpath welcomed

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 22nd Apr 2002

Alliance Councillor Michael Long (Castlereagh Central) has welcomed the Housing Executive's start to resurfacing a footpath outside shops at the old Council offices on the Cregagh Road.

Councillor Long has asked for the work to be carried out after receiving a number of complaints from local people about the large number of broken pavement slabs.

Cllr Long said: "The uneven state of this footpath has been of concern for some time, and I am pleased the Housing Executive has agreed to resurface it before someone was hurt."

"Together with the erection of new dog fouling signs and the promise of more dog warden patrols which I also requested, this development should make shopping here a much more pleasant experience for residents."
