Newtownbreda to get new Post Office, says Duncan

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 22nd Apr 2002

Alliance Castlereagh Councillor Sara Duncan has said she is very hopeful that Newtownbreda will have a new post office in the near future, after the closure of the previous office recently.

Councillor Duncan wrote to Sir John Semple, Director of Northern Ireland Affairs for Consignia, on behalf of the many residents who contacted her about the closure of Newtownbreda Post Office.

Cllr Duncan said: "I received a reply stating that after Consignia advertised for applicants with suitable alternative premises in the area, they received two applications and hope to appoint a new sub postmaster."

"It is likely to be several months before a new post office can be fitted out and the service restored. However, this is good news for the area, and will be welcomed by all residents."
