Alliance to announce decision on Belfast Lord Mayor

The Alliance Party will announce its voting intentions concerning the election of the next Lord Mayor of Belfast tomorrow, Friday, May 31.

The announcement will be made at the Europa Hotel, Belfast at 12.45pm in the Copenhagen One Suite.

Alliance has three councillors who sit on Belfast City Council. They are David Alderdice, Tom Ekin and Naomi Long.

Speaking ahead of the announcement, the Alliance group leader in Belfast City Council, David Alderdice, said:

"We have seriously considered the potential candidates and consulted widely, both within and outside the party. I can assure everyone that whatever decision we make, we will be acting in the best interests of all the people of Belfast."
