Neeson disappointment at Getty closure

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 27th Sep 2002

East Antrim Assembly Member, Sean Neeson, has expressed his deep regret at the closure of Getty Connections in Carrickfergus, and the serious loss of jobs in the area.

Mr Neeson, who is vice-chair of the Enterprise, Trade and Investment Committee at Stormont, said:

"Once again, a local business that has been bought over by a multinational company is losing out because of loss of profits elsewhere in the company. It's a big blow for Carrickfergus."

"The workforce are highly skilled, and have made a major contribution towards the company having received industry major awards in the past."

"I have already made arrangements to meet Enterprise Minister Reg Empey on Tuesday to discuss the impact of the closure and a possible replacement for this modern factory."
