Hawkins welcomes Suicide Task Force

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 21st Jun 2005

Marjorie Hawkins, Alliance Party Children's Spokesperson, has welcomed Shaun Woodward's announcement that the Task Force on suicide will be ongoing, as well as his proposal to meet with Tanaiste Mary Harney.

Mrs Hawkins said, "This seems to be a turn around from his previous comments that angered and hurt families of suicide victims.

"No one but those who have been bereaved under these circumstances can know the pain and hurt that this causes. If this announcement can ease a little of that pain then it should be applauded."
