O' Brien concern at Holywood pipebomb attack

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Sun 25th May 2003

Alliance Councillor, Susan O'Brien, has condemned last night's pipebomb attack in

Holywood, and expressed her concern at the recent upsurge of paramilitary activity in the North Down area.

Susan O'Brien stated:

"Our first thoughts must be with the victims of this violence. This was an horrific attack which could have caused death or serious injury.

"Like the rest of Holywood, Ardmore Heights is a peaceful area. There is a lot of concern in the town at the recent upsurge of paramilitary activity. This type of attack will only increase the fears of the local community.

"I hope that everyone can work closely with the police to remove this type of threat from our town."
