Long condemns Rosetta Road shooting

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 15th Apr 2005

Castlereagh Alliance Councillor, Michael Long, has condemned those behind a shooting which occurred this afternoon on the Rosetta Road.

Councillor Long said: "I strongly condemn those who carried out this horrific attack on the Rosetta Road."

"Those involved in this attack showed callous disregard for the safety of local people, as this incident took place when children would have been leaving school for the day.

"This attack was carried out at a time when the road would have been busy with those going about their daily work. Those who perpetrate acts of violence should recognise that the community has no time for them whatsoever.

"I would appeal for calm at this time and would ask anyone who has information on this incident to contact Police immediately."
