ALLIANCE Party candidate for North Belfast, and Children's Spokesperson, Marjorie Hawkins, heartily supports the demand for an overdue wage increase for classroom assistants in Special Schools.

Mrs Hawkins said: "As a governor of Hillcroft Special School, and as a first-hand witness, I know how teachers and classroom assistants not only attend to these pupils' education needs, but also the love and care they show for the children.

"It is the children in all of this that are now suffering. Discussions need to be completed quickly to ensure that there are no closures of the schools."
