Ford looks forward to New York flights

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 28th Sep 2004

SOUTH Antrim Alliance Assembly member David Ford has said a new flight route to New York from Aldergrove would be warmly welcomed by air travellers.

It is understood that Continental airlines could announce the launch of a new route to Newark International from Belfast International Airport in the coming weeks.

The Alliance Party Leader stated:

"A daily flight from Aldergrove to New Jersey would be a tremendous vote of confidence in Northern Ireland plc. It wasn't so long ago that we only had one international route out of Northern Ireland. Now it seems we can't get enough.

"I hope this latest venture takes off successfully."
