Bell condemns rail security threat

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 24th Sep 2004

ALLIANCE Deputy Leader Eileen Bell MLA (North Down) has said those behind security alerts that disrupted rail services in her constituency today have nothing to offer but misery.

Mrs Bell stated:

"Once again, people have been unable to go about their business without facing the inconvenience and potential danger of security alerts on railways.

"As a former Peace Train co-ordinator, I thought this kind of disruption had been consigned to the past. Sadly, it seems that some people still believe causing misery to public transport users is somehow furthering a political end.

"I would condemn these threats, and call on those behind them to allow the rest of us to get on with our everyday lives free from threat and terror."
