McCarthy works for workers across age spectrum12.00.00am GMT Tue 11th Nov 2003 ALLIANCE candidate Kieran McCarthy has said that he will be fighting for jobs across the age spectrum in a new Assembly. Mr McCarthy said he will be lobbying for age-positive hiring programmes. Mr McCarthy stated: "Forcing older people to prematurely leave their employment robs the economy of decades of knowledge and expertise. Alliance will work towards re-training of the older workforce, and we will provide positive solutions to employers, to employ older workforces. "At the other end of the spectrum, Alliance will lobby for the minimum wage to be extended to everyone over 16. Young employees should not be paid less for the same work, simply because of their age."
