Let post office know what you think about Greystone branch closure: Ford

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 14th Oct 2003

ALLIANCE Leader and former South Antrim Assembly member David Ford has called on members of the public to make their views on the possible closure of Greystone Post Office known.

The Post Office is currently carrying out consultation on the closure of the Greystone branch.

Mr Ford stated: "Greystone is the most prominent neighbourhood centre in Antrim, with a shopping centre, two primary schools, a library and four churches.

"It is bizarre that this branch would be selected for closure. I have been in touch with local community representatives, and would urge people to make their views known. It is vitally important that as many people as possible let the Post Office know that they want the Greystone branch to remain open.

"Closing this post office will create huge difficulties for many regular users, particularly older people, and I would urge everyone who uses the facility to make their views known during the consultation process."
