IRA are the weakest link in peace talks

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 16th Apr 2003

ALLIANCE Leader David Ford has said that the IRA are the 'weakest link' in this key period of political talks.

Mr Ford said: "There are now just hours for Sinn Fein to decide if their actions are going to be driven by the slowest elements in the IRA or whether they are going to live up to the spirit of the Agreement.

"At the moment the IRA is clearly the weakest link in the process.

"Alliance wants to see a process in which all parties play their part in peaceful democratic politics, but if Sinn Fein is not willing to do so, they will have to accept that others will have to proceed without them."
